ARMENIAN SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH INSTITUTE
FOR OPERATION OF NUCLEAR PLANTS

Armatom CJSC, scientific- research institute for operation of nuclear plants was founded in 1973 within the framework of Energy SPU.

After the collapse of the USSR in 1992 Armatom became an independent institution under the Ministry of Energy of the RA.

The Institute includes the International Center for Nuclear Safety and the following laboratories and divisions:

• for the Nuclear Safety of the Nuclear Plants, Information Systems and Designing of Trainers;
• for scientific- technical support in the operation of the Nuclear Plant;
• for computer equipment and scientific-technical support in repair of the Nuclear Plant’s blocks;
• for control system of the blocks of the Nuclear Plant;
• for elaborating of the systems for seismic safety and adjustment of electronic devices for measurement and control;
• Project Designing;
• Experimental Production;
• Production –technical Department
• Scientific-technical Information Department etc.

The Institute has highly qualified specialists     in energy, physics, programming, electronics, designing. They also give lectures in the top universities of Armenia.
Armatom has played an active role in the restarting of the second energy block of Armenian Nuclear Plant, which became the principal customer of the Institute.

Armatom carried out works on utilization of the alternative sources of energy with the financial  support of TACIS. Together with WS Atkins International Ltd. representing EC the Institute designed, produced and erected the demonstration sample of the solar water- heater.
